Pressing continue on the game over screen adds 1 minute to the total time, but it adds it to the total time you had at the start of the stage. Getting a game over is not a big deal if your time buffer is large enough. In the third, fourth and fifth stages, you’ll make use of your 30 second buffer. Although it may be tough, try to shoot for a total time of 30 seconds or less after the second stage.

The fights get progressively more difficult, so you’ll need the extra time. Try to beat the first stage within 10 seconds. Because respawning takes a couple of seconds, I recommend going for this gold medal and The Lone Rival in Rivals of Aether in a single run. When this happens, jump off the stage and use USPECIAL in the air to create a platform and save yourself from an insta-killing laser. Near the end of the battle, both eyes will flash red and the stage will emit a purple glow. Make avoiding lasers your main priority, as recovering from knockback likely takes you the most time. Don’t worry if you miss it, the stun is only short.

Knocking a fighter against an eye will stun the eye and kill the fighter. If no eyes are close to the ground, use UAIR on either eye followed by a fastfall. Whenever an eye is close to the ground, use USTRONG on that eye. Epilogue: Select Kragg as your fighter. Zetterburn has a power called fire amp, which causes him to inflict an insane amount of knockback when he uses a strong attack on a burning target. Zetterburn: Use FSPECIAL if the opponent is not burning. If the opponent is close and you're not charging an attack, use USPECIAL or DSPECIAL to create a puddle under you, then quickly use FSTRONG. Release the empowered strong attack when the opponent is sufficiently close. Due to Orcane’s water amp power, sliding over the puddle while charging a strong attack will give it additional knockback and range. Dash towards the puddle, and then charge an FSTRONG in the direction opposite of the one you dashed in. Orcane: Use NSPECIAL to create a puddle. Most of Forsburn’s moves aren’t particularly useful against AI, but he can perform two strong attacks in very quick succession (cape swipe followed by dagger).

Forsburn: Use FSTRONG + FSTRONG and USTRONG + USTRONG. Try to hit the sweet spot with these finishers. For opponents that won’t jump off, spam aerial DSTRONG to weaken them and finish off with an aerial FSTRONG or aerial USTRONG. When they’re in the air and no longer above the platform, spam aerial DSTRONG to knock the opponent downwards. Wrastor: Keep jumping near the edge of the stage to lure the opponent. She can’t dash off a ledge using this attack. Maypul’s dash attack will push the opponent back a lot, before knocking the opponent up. Maypul: Use dash attacks, then finish off with FSTRONG or USTRONG. He’s a strong character, so there’s not much else to say. Kragg: Use jab combos and dash attacks, then finish off with FSTRONG or USTRONG. I’ll use the same terms in this guide that are used in the in-game tutorials. Try to experiment with the character if my strategy doesn’t work out for you. Keep in mind that these combos worked for me specifically they might not work for you. After a long time of experimenting, I think this might save you the trouble I’ve had getting the gold medals. Me not being particularly good at fighting games, I set out to discover which specific combos are easy to pull off yet powerful enough to get a gold medal with. In the epilogue, you’ll have to finish the fight in 2 minutes to get a gold medal. Because of this, you have an average of 30 seconds per opponent to get the gold medal. Opponents in stages 1-4 have only a single stock, whereas the one in the fifth stage has two. You’ll have to finish each character’s story in 3 minutes to get a gold medal.
